When Robert Pio Hajjar was born, in 1977, doctors informed his parents “He will be profoundly retarded. Put him away and forget about him. Have another child.” They did not realize that Robert was born to be a Champion.

Today, Robert is making a difference in the world as a charismatic, motivational speaker who travels widely as living proof of what is possible when we include people with disabilities, give them love, encouragement and opportunity. Blessed with natural showmanship, and a clear voice, Rob is a true Champion for his peers that cannot speak.

As Rob states, “The cards that were dealt to me in life are not as important as how I play them. I love my life.”

Robert’s remarkable life story includes High School graduation; eight years a Children’s Aid volunteer; golfing; hockey; baseball; bowling; bocce; a Special Olympics Record in 25M freestyle; Founder of IDEAL WAY, a charity to help persons like him; keynote / opening Speaker at major international Conferences throughout Canada, the United Sates and beyond. Look for the upcoming “Robert Pio Hajjar, Welcome Reception co-host at the 2012 Canadian Down Syndrome Conference”.

Some highlights of Robert’s successes include:

  • recipient of the City of Toronto “Unsung Hero Award” presented by the Honourable David C. Onley, Lt. Gov. of Ontario on Dec 3, 2009, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities… Robert’s 32nd birthday;
