chrissy- it could happen to you

Chrissy 1

Editors Note - I met a friend of mine, Catherine and her daughter, Chrissy through Joni and Friends Family Retreats. Catherine is taking an online class and her classroom discussions are done via conversations online. The whole class can read and respond to anything another has said. Everyone responds to whatever topic is posted by an individual in the class. The topic of one particular discussion was Disability. Catherine shared with me where the conversation went and how she handled it. Her heart-felt response was one that truly touched me, one that needs to be shared: One of the themes ...[Read more]

What others see as a "defect," Mr. Mendez sees as beauty in each one of his performers, causing them each to emerge from their own cocoon. The Family That No One Expected

Janet and Kids

After spending 35 days in Ghana, it’s been difficult trying to figure out how to get my thoughts and feelings written into stories. Each night while in Africa, I would try to journal about our days activities  but with all that we were experiencing, it would literally take me hours to express what was churning around in my head and the exhaustion would overtake me and I’d surrender to sleep. I ended up writing down the bare minimum of details, knowing that my mind would retain the stories that had deeply touched my heart. The Family that No One Expected After two years of planning and ...[Read more]

One of the most influential people who the Lord brought into my life was my youth pastor, John. Born prematurely at a time when incubators where a fairly new development, he was born prematurely and given too much oxygen which caused the blood vessels in his eyes to proliferate wildly and the retinas to detach causing John as a newborn baby, to go completely blind. Love Came Down

Cross sunset

In a seat down near the front of the auditorium with my friend Chad next to me, sitting in his wheelchair, a paraplegic due to the complications of spina bifida, I had called him the day before and asked if he would like to come to this healing conference. I know Chad well enough to invite him to a service like this, he welcomes it when people pray for his healing. The guest speaker was a man, who has traveled all around the world doing healing conferences. Another young boy sat in a wheelchair next to Chad, I overheard his parents say to someone that he had a disease, the seriousness of it ...[Read more]

Editor- I had an incredible opportunity to interview an amazing young man on the phone!  Once again, a friend posted a video on facebook which was wonderful!  It was of Robert Pio Hajjar, speaking to a crowd in a large auditorium.  Robert was animated, full of life, dancing on the stage, arms raised and clapping above his head.  Soon, the audience joined in.  Then, Robert began to speak.  He was articulate, entertaining, had a wonderful sense of humor and a huge heart.  The focus of Robert's message was to share with the audience, that those with disabilities can have a full, meaningful and ...[Read more]
